Annually, for the past eight years, colloquium is organized to honour and celebrate Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. Every yearly celebration has its theme. For this year is on Agriculture . It is tagged Agriculture: Action, Work and reality.
President Buhari is the highest ranked personality in this occasion. So, he had the privilege and honour, as expected, to make opening speech.
He started his speech 💬 to recognize people in attendance and eulogised the celebrant. Immediately he finished declaring the occasion opened, he left to attend to state matters.
His speech was in tune with the topic of discussion. He said his administration's policy is simple which is to produce what we eat. Agriculture, food production and food security are the basis for socioeconomic development and also key to economic growth, according to him.
Mr President stated the agriculture potential endowment, it's limitation and economic effects. Summarily, he said we have many diversity of market, abundant arable lands and human resources that could be harnessed to increase production, income and food security. But he mentioned poor infrastructure, weak market excess and poor marketing institutions are the problems facing agriculture. Consequently, the nation spend 11billions US dollars to import food like rice, millet, yam etc
He stated that since last year November, CBN has made Agricultural fund of 40 Billion Naira available for farmers at one digit rate loan.
