THEY ARE STUPID AND ILLITERATE -OBASANJO FUMES

Written by Rahmon

The Ebora of Owu is in the news again. A man who is not tacit but Curt in nature when he is ignited . He is jovial when matter before him is relaxed or inoffensive. While sometimes he is a mean man that has no slight endurance for slight harassment ,also. Whenever he is piqued ,  whosoever dares his wrath. If you think ,as a bold person you can heckle him to be muffled or make him flounder, you are mistakenly wrong. Rather he will pummel with harsh and even, nonchalantly usage of derogatory words that can make your boldness flakes, and make you shuddered and sheepish. That is baba Olusegun Obasanjo in my own description.
One of those I ardently like paying attention to whenever glimpse of their story gleans. Like when I heard from early morning newspaper headline transmitted  in Yoruba 'Koko inu Iroyin,  I began to pry for more details about his spite at those who called for him to account for Abacha loot, which I found in gleanings, captured by paper media. The characters I observed him reflect in his respones. He also sarcastically hit at Jonathan too.
In Lagos the former President was interviewed by some journalists where they enquired his thoughts on issues within the scope from Abacha's loot money, Buhari frequent trips to abroad, Jonathan making as president, Biafra agitation and oil Price fluctuation
When he was asked about his role or how Abacha's loot was spent, he responded offensively that both who was asking and the person that granted judgement were stupid and illiterate.
I quote him,"They said the money recovered from Abacha, I should account for it. What stupidity! The man who asked for it, the man who gave the judgement or who answered them are all stupid, with due respect. I don’t keep account, all Abacha loots were sent to Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and every bit of it was reported to Minister of Finance. My job was to write where we can get help to recover the money. Every penny that comes out of it went to CBN, so if they want to know what happened to the money, they should call CBN governor or call the Minister of Finance. But again, it shows ignorance, total ignorance, which is lacking and you wonder, are these people educated? They can also approach the man who helped us in recovering process to give the list of money recovered and where he took"
On making Jonathan as President : He said he had no regret for facilitating his emergence as a President because it is a promise fulfilled to have president coming from the minority. It was to strengthen Nigeria unity,he mocked him that he was given the opportunity but he misused it and people said bye bye to him which he called the beauty of democracy .
He also said Buhari's frequent overture is okay because he needed to meet people and know people to make things happen in the country.  He added that sitting in Aso Rock could influence people rather than to meet them. He said that our image had been damaged by last administration. Nigeria was not on the table as leader in Africa which needed to be fixed .
On Biafra - He insisted that anything like Biafra is dead but just a platform for the South  East people to be heard. He mentioned those who were agitators did it because of the bad economy situation.  He said any reasonable Igbo leader would be bothered on how to have good economy. But he sympathised with them and urged government to find solution to economic problem facing the nation.
On oil price fluctuation -He said that Buhari was lucky than him in term of oil price and foreign reserve. I Quote him “When I assumed office in 1999, I inherited $3.7 bullion was in reserve, while Buhari met $30 billion, almost 10 times of what I met then, and the price of oil then was $9. When it got to $20, I was dancing.I know the price is down now and with time, it will jump up again. What Buhari is doing currently is preparing ground for Nigeria to take advantage when it goes up again.”
