It has been Officially confirmed yesterday, by NYSC the death of a corp member, Okonta Samuel, with call-up number RV/15B/5539, during the re-run elections in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State. This young man, an orphan, was killed by unknown gunmen.
NYSC described his death " The murder of this patriotic young man, who was an orphan, is primitive, barbaric, and ungodly; and should be strongly condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians"
I think this grievous incident is one too many. It is saddening that his life was cut short in a time he was ambitiously looking forward to achieve his dreams. May God fortify his family and friends out of bereavement .
It is also reported and affirmed by NYSC that the other two corps, who were with him, narrowly escaped death,were rescued by the security agents.
On the behalf of youths the authority must fish out those savage and gory killers and their kingpins. They must be brought to book 📖.
